Day 3 in San Fran has been a blast! We picked up our daughter from the Klemmer Teen Camp and played tourists in the city. We walked everywhere – from the Union Square to Haight Asbury and then to Fisherman’s Wharf! On vacation, it feels great to get out and exercise. We had tried to go a Gold’s gym but it looked a little off the beaten track.. so we decided walking would be our exercise for the day. But, along with holidays goes the eating and my motto has always been “ moderation not Deprivation!!” We decided today would be our treat day. We were undecided about desert at the Cheesecake factory or chocolate Sundae at the Ghirdalle factory. In the end our love for icecream won out..... the whole family shared a Golden Nugget –chocolate and peanut butter! It was excellent.. but I couldn’t imagine eating a whole one. A few mouthfuls was plenty. So that if my message – it is moderation not deprivation. Enjoy your treat but get back on track too. You often hear the 80 – 20 rule which is 80 percent of the time you eat well and maintain a healthy life style. and 20 percent of time it a bit more “ chill” ( as my son would say!). And interesting enough when you maintain a healthy lifestyle... you feel much better when you are eating well. Off to Eureka and the beach tomorrow.
